IBDNetwork's Under the Radar Event Features Open-Source Solutions for the Enterprise

Under the Radar, a one-day event, focused on enterprise solutions, will showcase 32 emerging companies with less than three rounds of funding. Under the Radar will take place on November 16, 2005 at the Microsoft campus in Mountain View, CA.

The event will feature eight categories including: security -- insider threat, identity management, next-generation business intelligence, messaging and collaboration, source-code management, second-generation RFID, data-center virtualization, and mobile productivity tools.

"As we were developing the Under the Radar program, one the first decisions we made is that Open Source, in itself, should not be an actual category featured in the program. So many of the companies' solutions were built using Open Source or AJAX," said Debbie Landa, CEO of IBDNetwork. "To us, Open Source is really a business model. And its rapid adoption by the enterprise will put pressure on proprietary software vendors to develop Open-Source alternatives."

Presenting companies using Open Source include:
Black Duck Software -- http://www.blackducksoftware.com/ -- compliance
management solutions

Funambol -- http://www.funambol.com/ -- Open-Source server

Intelligenxia -- http://www.intelligenxia.com/ -- data mining of
structured and unstructured data

Oakley Networks -- http://www.oakleynetworks.com/ -- insider threat
management server and software

Sxip Identity -- http://www.sxip.com/ -- on-demand identity management

Zimbra -- http://www.zimbra.com/ -- online collaboration software

"Organizations are increasingly looking for innovative software applications to drive their business processes based on open standards and open-systems technologies," said Drew Clark, director of strategy, IBM Venture Capital Group. "Many of the companies you'll see at Under the Radar are addressing this need."

IBDNetwork has showcasing trend-setting companies for the past three years. The Under Radar events cover consumer and enterprise technologies. Past winners of the Under the Radar Innovation Award include Akimbo, Inxight Software, Orb Networks, Peerflix, Akonix Systems, and LinkedIn.
