Broadcom is Selected for Murata's 2005 Supplier Award for Bluetooth(R) Products |
Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM) , a global leader in wired and wireless broadband communications semiconductors, today announced that Murata has selected Broadcom for its 2005 Supplier Award. This is the first time in Murata's 61 year history that it has selected a non-Japanese company for its supplier award. Broadcom earned this award by providing high-quality silicon solutions and product support for Murata's highest volume module products, which have enabled Bluetooth(R) functionality in many cellular phones from top-tier manufacturers.
"Broadcom is honored to be recognized with such a prestigious award from Murata," said Robert A. Rango, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Broadcom's Mobile & Wireless Group. "This award directly reflects the hard work and dedication that our teams have made to help grow the Bluetooth mobile phone market and we look forward to continuing our work with Murata."
Murata offers Bluetooth modules based on the Broadcom(R) Blutonium(R) BCM2045 Bluetooth Version 2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) and BCM2035 Bluetooth Version 1.2 single-chip solutions, as well as the market-leading BCM2004 radio-only Bluetooth device. Broadcom has worked closely with Murata to meet the dramatically accelerating demand of multiple top-tier handset manufacturers for the highest performing, highest quality Bluetooth products in the industry. Murata has emerged as the world's largest manufacturer of Bluetooth modules and its modules (based on Broadcom technology) are embedded in more phones than any other Bluetooth chips. In 2005, Broadcom became one of the largest suppliers of any component, including core ceramics, to Murata.
Broadcom is a leading supplier of Bluetooth chips and software, featuring the broadest family of products for Bluetooth applications. With single-chip solutions for cellular handsets, wireless peripherals, high-quality stereo headsets, and other applications, Broadcom Blutonium products are enabling the full ecosystem of interactive wireless personal area networking devices. |
