Software AG acquires rich client development tools

(InfoWorld) - Software AG has agreed to acquire Web application tools developer Casabac Technologies GmbH in a move to expand its portfolio of business integration products, Software AG said Thursday in a statement.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Casabac, in Bammental, Germany, offers software for developing rich client interfaces for server applications. Its flagship product is the Casabac GUI Server, a J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) infrastructure product for developing browser user interfaces. The technology is used by more than 100 customers in the financial, telecommunication and government sectors, according to the company.

Last month, XML (Extensible Markup Language) specialist Software AG, in Darmstadt, Germany, acquired APS Venezuela and five of its partner companies for US$4.6 million. APS Venezuela has served as a distributor for Software AG products for the past 25 years.
