(InfoWorld) - Netli accelerates Web services
Netli rolled out a service designed to speed the delivery of Web services traffic over the Internet. NetLightning for Web Services is an application-specific optimization service that uses specialized protocols to avoid network latency and stop performance degradation of machine-to-machine communications. The Netli protocols include techniques for bandwidth management and loss and congestion control.

Itanium chips sport faster bus
Intel unveiled two new Itanium 2 processors that will tide the company over until the expected launch of its first dual-core Itanium processor later this year. The company added two 1.66GHz Itanium 2 processors, one with 9MB of Level 3 cache and the other with 6MB of Level 3 cache, to its lineup. The chips include a 667MHz front-side bus and offer a faster link between the CPU and the system’s main memory.

Microsoft tweaks certification 
Microsoft plans changes to its certification programs that are expected to take effect with the release of SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 in November. Program changes for developers and database engineers will give specific credentials around what have been more general certifications. The changes introduce three new tiers of focus for achieving a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist certification in Visual Studio 2005 or SQL Server 2005.
