Note to shareholders: Google has revised its mission statement.
OLD: Organize the world’s information.
NEW: Organize the world’s information and solve the world’s problems.
Google has formed a philanthropic division (located at Google.org). Details are
sketchy, but Google has identified three organizations with which it is currently working, and has also provided an
update on Google Grants, which funds non-profits. Google is making an
initial commitment of nearly one-billion dollars; going forward the company
reportedly plans to funnel one percent of its
profit to Google.org.
