Google has
recruited
five more lawyers for its team in the Kai-Fu Lee
case with Microsoft. Kai-Fu Lee is the ex-Microsoft engineer who bolted to Google; Microsoft sued Google and
obtained a temporary restraining order that prohibits Lee from working while the case winds through the courts. The
decision will be rendered in Washington staste, while Google’s countersuit to have the case dropped is located in
California. This InfoWorld
piece quotes experts who
predict that Microsoft will win this thing fairly easily in Washington, and that decisions in that state are binding in
California, ruining Google’s case there. The worst case scenario for Google is that Lee would not be able to start his
job for a year, during which time Google would pay him in stock.
