It seems too early for a Best of 2005 list, but that’s what PCMag has
given us. and Google scores a few times.
the #2 overall product is Gmail (Firefox takes the top spot). In addition to being premature, this list is a bit moldy.
It’s definitely not new products of 2005, which would have been a more interesting list. This all-star roster is
populated by chestnuts like Google (yes, just Google), iTunes, Vonage, Flickr, Wikipedia, and Photoshop. A little
imagination, a little digging, and more of a discovery factor, please. And where is Yahoo!? How can Google (yes, just
Google) be on the list but not My Web 2.0? How can no local search engine be represented? (Copernic desktop and Google
Desktop are both there.) How can My Yahoo!, with its robust and transparent RSS integration, be ignored in favor of the
A9 toolbar?
