Google Print Morphs Into Google Book Search

Good move, this. Google doesn’t always exhibit a flair for naming products. In the early days of the then-misnamed Google Video, the only content was TV closed-caption transcripts. Google Print has been a curious name of understandable origin: It’s about organizing printed information. But as a search engine Google Print was probably a misnomer, and it has been changed to Google Book Search. Amusing, according to the official Google blog, some people though the service would help them print out Web pages. There is also this sly remark: ”No, we don’t think that this new name will change what some folks think about this program.” Right; the new name isn’t likely to stop any lawsuits in their tracks. But it is a better name.
