Google Maps Brought to Life with Flash

Any user of both Google Earth and Google Maps has been struck and frustrated by the image-handling superiority of the former. Very often I wish Google Maps satellite imagery could zoom smoothly and spin on the directional axis, but don’t want to load up Google Earth if I’m not going to spend a good deal of time in that interface. Now, Paul Neave at Neave Lab has written a Flash enhancement of Google Maps (in satellite mode only) that zooms smoothly and rotates. MSN Virtual Earth is available, too. It is truly amazing to find such slick image handling in a Web interface. This experiment does not replicate Google’s local search or driving directions.
