FDA approves West Nile test |
|
Chiron Corp.'s test for West Nile virus was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday. Although the test has been used by blood donation centers since 2002, the approval will allow Chiron to sell the test for a profit. Emeryville-based Chiron and its partner Gen-Probe are the first to gain approval for a West Nile test, beating out competitor Roche Holding AG. |
